  • My player is participating in AAA tryouts and there’s a conflict
    • For age groups where AAA exists (Major Pee Wee to Major Bantam) OVSS consulted with OVTMHA and their tryouts will finalize on Saturday, August 27th, 2016.
    • Players must attend a minimum of two OVSS tryout times for consideration, including the first tryout session on Satuday, August 28th, 2016 for registration/check in where they skate with their peers.
    • If your player has a conflict, please notify the President (president@silversevenhockey.com) with the following information:

  • What if we can’t afford to play?
    • S7 strives to include all players, please notify the President (sherry@silversevenhockey.com) if you need financial assistance.
    • An application form wil be provided to the guardian.
    • Applications will not be considered until the team roster is finalized and the player has secured a position on the team.
    • All requests are confidential between the President & Treasurer.

  • What equipment does the Silver Seven Hockey Club provide?
    • Players receive a home/away jersey (requires jersey deposit, to be returned)
    • Home & Away Socks (not to be returned)
    • Pant Shells (requires shell deposit, to be returned)
    • All new players receive an equipment bag @ the Major Novice Level for the 2016-2017 season.

  • Why are tryouts so early in August?
    • All OVSS Tier 1 and Tier 2 teams must be finalized by September 4th for the 2016-2017 season, prior to the local Association tryouts for Tier 3.

  • Why host Spring Tryouts?
    • As a club with both Tier1 and Tier 2 programming, it requires 3+ weekends to complete tryouts due to limited weeknight ice available. Hosting Spring tryouts allows for one less weekend spent in the arena in the month of August for our families and volunteers.

  • Can our player play up a level?
    • The OVSS operates a minor/major system throughout the various age divisions as endorsed by Hockey Canada operating guidelines. As such, the OVSS operates under the premise that all players will play within their respective age group. (i.e.: a minor will play minor, a major will play major).

  • What does it cost to play?
    • The team fee is approx. $550, this includes tournament participation.
    • The S7 Fee is approx. $2000 - $2350 depending on the level/age of play/game length.
    • Any non parent coaches are entitled to $2000 payable by the team through their fees.
    • Your home association fees paid will be transferred to S7, less their possible administration fee.

  • How many sessions per week if my player in on S7 team can we expect?
    • There are 30 games, 15 home and 15 away.
    • In addition, players can expect 2-3 practices per week.
    • Teams will participate in exhibition games, tournaments and may schedule off ice skills sessions.
    • Arenas for home games and practices include: Arnprior, Almonte, Beckwith, Bell Sensplex, Carp, Carleton Place, Kinburn, Lanark, Manotick, Osgoode, Pakenham, Perth, Richmond and Stittsville.
    • Away games are within the A/AA League and teams will play from Cornwall to Brockville.

  • How many tournaments per season?
    • OVSS teams are permitted to enter a total of five (5) tournaments including those sponsored by the OVSS.  A maximum of three (3) out-of-district tournaments are permitted.  This does not include Provincial, Regional or National Championship play downs.

  • Can my player be released?
  • All players MUST tryout for the levels OVSS offers for the season. Players released from OVSS tryouts may contact their local Home Association President with regards to tryouts for other clubs offering the same levels.
