Parents: Code of Conduct

SILVER SEVEN PARENT CODE OF CONDUCT

The Silver Seven Hockey Association believes strongly in the core values of teamwork, sportsmanship
and leadership through example. Our Association strives to produce a program that contributes to the
overall goal of player development both on and off the ice. This mindset relies heavily on our collective
ability, as a group of families, to create and maintain a safe, fun and positive environment for all of our
players.

As an Association we request that you take the time to review the below PARENT CODE OF CONDUCT
and support us by abiding by the Agreement as stated. You are a direct reflection of Silver Seven Hockey
Association as a whole and therefore any conduct deemed unbecoming will be addressed. We, therefore, ask for your support in this effort and remind you that proper conduct and sportsmanship are expected of ALL Association members at ALL times.

Parent / Legal Guardian Code of Conduct Agreement

As a parent / legal guardian of a child involved in the Silver Seven Hockey Association, I agree to abide by
and follow the rules and guidelines listed below:
  • I will promote the emotional and physical well-being of the athletes ahead of any desire to win.
  • I will encourage good sportsmanship by demonstrating positive support for all players.
  • I will leave the coaching to the coaching staff. I will encourage my child to play in a manner consistent with the team’s strategy or plans. I will not undermine the coaches’ authority at any time by trying to be a coach instead of a parent.
  • I will provide support for coaches and officials working with the athletes to provide a positive experience for all.
  • I understand that coaching is a difficult endeavour, and I will always give coaches the benefit of the doubt and treat them with respect.
  • I will never ridicule or yell at my child for making a mistake or losing a game. I understand that making mistakes is a key part of learning.
  • I will remember that children learn by example. I will applaud good plays by both my child’s team and their opponents. I will not be critical of or embarrass any player, including opposing players.
  • I will treat all players, coaches, team officials, parents and spectators with dignity and respect in language, attitude, behaviour and mannerisms. I understand that my behaviour reflects on my child and on the Silver Seven Association as a whole. I will be a positive role model to my player/their teammates and conduct myself in an appropriate manner at all times.
  • I will at no time question the team official’s and/or on-ice official’s judgment or honesty in public.
  • I recognize that officials are being developed in the same manner as players.
  • I will never yell, taunt, threaten or inflict physical violence upon any player, coach, team official, on-ice official, spectator, or member of the public at any hockey activity. I will refrain from the use of abusive or vulgar language, racial, ethnic or gender-related slurs at any time at the rink or at any hockey function.
  • I will support all efforts to remove verbal and physical abuse from any Silver Seven Hockey Association sanctioned event.
  • I will abide by the Hockey Canada 24-Hour Rule at ALL times.
I understand that by signing this document I am agreeing to support and promote this Parent / LegalGuardian Code of Conduct Agreement. Further, I recognize that my failure to comply with this agreement or my participation in any of the defined CONDUCT SUBJECT TO DISCIPLINE  will result in disciplinary action, up to and including expulsion from the Silver Seven Hockey Association.
