The shinny games will last 60 minutes and will be played from 8:00 am to 9:00 am. Teams are asked to arrive early (between 7:00 am and 7:30 am) to ensure smooth co-ordination.
- Teams will play a 5-on-5 game with no goalies with extra players substituting as needed.
- Each team that registers will receive a special gift to commemorate their participation on the Rideau Canal in Hockey Day in the Capital.
- Although the intention is to have a fun, informal game of 'pond hockey', full equipment is mandatory for insurance purposes. Players should arrive fully dressed and benches will be provided on the ice at staircases for players to put on their skates.
- Each player may be accompanied by two adults only.
- It is expected that team trainers will be available and have first aid kits handy if required.
- Please be aware that we are expecting extensive media coverage of the Hockey Day in the Capital Shinny Games on the Rideau canal. As a result, attendees may be photographed and/or video recorded for use by broadcasters, the Department of Canadian Heritage, the Ottawa Senators Hockey Club, or other event sponsors, in their respective news programs, web casts, websites, and/or promotional campaigns. By participating in the Hockey Day in the Capital Shinny Games players, and their respective parents/legal guardians, coaches, managers and spectators are assumed to have consented to the possibility of being included in such photography and/or video recordings and in their subsequent use. Please ensure that all team members, parents/legal guardians, coaches and managers are aware of the Hockey Day in the Capital Shinny Games’ filming policy prior to the commencement of the event.
- Detailed information will be made available via the Ottawa Senators website and will be sent by email. This will include confirmation of teams, rink numbers, parking, transportation procedures and more.
