Dear Players and Parents;
I would like to start by expressing how excited and grateful I am for the opportunity to lead a group of talented young hockey players as head coach of the U9 Black team for the upcoming 2024/2025 season.
My love for the game has allowed me to share my passion and knowledge with young players within the KGHA and RMMHA over the past 5 years. Most evenings and weekends, you can find me in a rink with my son Beckett, oldest daughter Clara and their biggest cheerleader, Sadie. I am looking forward to meeting you all and encourage you to come say hello if you see me around this summer.
At the core of my coaching philosophy are strong values of sportsmanship, discipline, and hard work - all of which are pivotal in supporting the growth of young players both on and off the ice at this age level. I will be looking to not only develop the kids as good hockey players but as great individuals within the community as they proudly represent the OVSS family.
Playing competitive hockey is a privilege, and with it comes a level of commitment and expectations that extend to the players, families, and coaching staff alike. You can expect 4-5 sessions per week (practices, games, off ice team building, etc.) – family, school and hockey should be the priority throughout the season. Our practices will be fast-paced, emphasizing skating and skill development within a fun competitive environment with a strong focus on teamwork above all else.
Following the U9 pathways, we will be registered for the following tournaments;
Capital Fall Classic (OVSS host tournament), November 1~3
Kanata Holiday Classic, December 20~22
U9 Full Ice Championships, January 17~19 in Belle River, ON
U9 Year End Jamboree – date/location TBD
I’m a big believer in team camaraderie and will be asking each family to contribute in one way or another throughout the year to ensure a successful and memorable season for all.
Look forward to seeing all of you at tryouts this fall!
