Hello,
I am thrilled to have the opportunity to coach the Silver Seven Minor Atom White “A” team for the upcoming 2019/20 season.
On behalf of the Silver Seven association, I would like to welcome all players trying out one of the two teams at the Minor Atom level.  I would like to provide a brief introduction, and give you an overview of my coaching philosophy and expectations for the year.
I place high value in the culture we create as a team and the standards we strive toward as hockey players, teammates and members of the community.  Coaches and parents will be expected to lead by example in all situations as we develop our players. I believe the lessons on and off the ice as well as friendships will shape our young athletes for a lifetime.
Although I am passionate about the game, and incredibly proud of on-ice success, I am just as interested in developing high-achieving, confident leaders in our community.  In addition to on-ice development you can expect your player to be challenged to be leaders off the ice in programs such as “player coach” and setting personal & team goals throughout the season.
On-ice development this season will focus on strong individual and team tactics. The Coaches will work with the players in a programmatic fashion building on the strengths and weakness of each player while building confidence and self esteem through positive re-enforcement.  We will continue to build smarter hockey players that think the game, aren’t afraid to make mistakes are love coming to the rink.
Practices will be fast paced and designed to build on key focus areas throughout the year.  I commit to be prepared for each practice and game in a manner deserving of tier 1 hockey.  My expectation is that players make the same commitment and come to the rink to work hard and give 100% effort in every drill & shift. Parents are expected to encourage all players, demonstrate a team first attitude, value the time with your child and lead by example.
This is a competitive hockey team and therefore there is a commitment.  We expect to be in five tournaments this season, three of which are expected to be out of town.  Between practices, games and off-ice sessions you can expect between 3-5 ‘events’ per week throughout the season.  All sessions are considered mandatory.
I am committed to providing a safe and rewarding environment for your player and entire family.  Atom hockey is a family experience, and we all have a role to play.
All the best for the upcoming season and good luck during tryouts.  I look forward to seeing you at the rink!
Thanks,
Jamie O’Hare
