Graduating Player Bursary
Eligibility
The Ottawa Valley Silver Seven Scholarship is given in recognition of outstanding commitment to community service, athletics, and academics. This bursary reflects the achievements of a young hockey player who is committed to his or her community, athletic ability, and academic achievement. Each approved recipient will receive up to a maximum of $500 towards his or her post-secondary education. Bursary amounts are subject to change depending on available funds.
The Ottawa Valley Silver Seven Scholarship is intended for students who meet the following mandatory eligibility criteria;
- Presently a member in “good standing” with the Ottawa Valley Silver Seven
- Full-time registered player (not affiliates) in the Ottawa Valley Silver Seven on an Official Team Roster for a minimum of five years.
- A player intending to attend a post-secondary institution after graduating from High School.
- Maintain a high standard of academic excellence (65% average).
- Active within the community (other community sport or social program)
How to Apply
- Candidates must complete the attached application form and submit it to president@silversevenhockey.com by 10 pm on February 20 of the calendar year. Each application will be reviewed for a period of one week. Upon receiving the application, the OVSS Board will contact the applicant by email/telephone for acknowledgement. Each applicant will be contacted by the OVSS no later than two weeks after the application is submitted on the deadline. The successful applicant will be asked to attend the Ottawa Valley Silver Seven Annual Banquet for a presentation.
- Provide a one-page letter from their Head Coach supporting their request.
- Attachments required:
- Copy of High School Transcript (up-to-date version)
- Copy of acceptance letter to college/university or letter indicating which college/university they intend to apply for after graduating from High School
- Only one application per household or family.
- Applications will not be accepted if a family member has been previously accepted within one year.
- Incomplete applications will not be accepted.

Volunteers Experience – type and # of years contributed
Essay Rating by Board – well-written, articulate essay
Youth Leadership – encompasses camp councillors, volunteer on-ice helpers to instruct minor hockey, coaching outdoor hockey/indoor hockey/soccer, etc…of a local youth sport team in the participating communities of OVSS.
